Claverhouse Braes is located right next to the well renowned Caird Park golf course – with two courses, one nine hole course and one eighteen hole course as well as a clubhouse and a bar The Caird Park Golf Club.
Also closeby is the Claverhouse Equestrian Centre, based in our sister community, Emmock Woods. The Claverhouse Equestrian Centre is a great place to do or practice horse riding. You can ride around the local area which also passes Claverhouse Braes.
Within Caird Park is an athletics track and velodrome and will be the future home of the Dundee Regional Sports Centre which is currently in construction and will provide multi-sporting activities including badminton, basketball, netball, rugby and volleyball as well as the existing golf course, athletics track, velodrome and football pitches.
Natural wildlife and lakes at your doorstep
Trottick Ponds is only a short three minute walk away from Claverhouse Braes and is part of the Trottick Ponds Local Nature Reserve which also includes beautiful wildlife. The ponds are home to swans, gooses and seagulls and some birds – so watch out! There are several paths where you can walk and relax with the nature around you and this beautiful addition to the local neighbourhood is very popular with runners and dog walkers.
History right at your doorstep
Located nearby is the historic Mains Castle which has been retained within the modern Caird Park near to the golf course. The castle consists of several buildings surrounding a courtyard, although several of the original western buildings no longer exist. The northern and eastern buildings are where the family would have lived, with the servants occupying the southern quarters. The castle also has a large, six-floor, square tower house with dressed cornerstones, which is typical of 16th-century construction and is surrounded by beautiful pure nature!
